Businessman kidnapped

india Updated: Feb 16, 2007 22:57 IST

A BUSINESSMAN from Bikaner was allegedly kidnapped along with a bagful of money by four abductors on the busy AB Road on Thursday afternoon.

According to Sanyogitaganj police, Devkaran Sharma of 246 Manormaganj filed a report of his cousin’s kidnap.

As per the complainant, he was driving his cousin Pradeep Sharma, a cotton merchant from Bikaner, in his car. The two were going to deposit some money with the ICICI Bank at the Sapna Sangeeta Tower branch.

However, before they could do so a white Maruti 800 car overtook them at about 2 pm in front of Kamla Nehru Zoo. Four unidentified youths alighted from the car and forcefully took Pradeep Sharma along with a bagful of money.

The police acting on the report have registered a case of kidnapping and are on the lookout for the four accused and the car in which they are said to have taken the victim.

The police have also expressed doubts on the veracity of the story as the incident occurred in broad daylight on a very busy road. According to the complaint the incident took place around 2 pm while the complainant approached the police at 3 pm thus putting a question mark on the plausibility of the story.

The police are also checking on the angle of a possible financial fraud.
