Businessman was smothered, say police

The East Delhi police said 51-year-old Ramnath Singla, whose decomposed body was found in a car in East Delhi yesterday, was smothered to death. The police were working on the angle of personal rivalry as the reason behind his murder.

Additional commissioner of police (East) KC Dwivedi said, "Smothering seems to be a likely cause of death. However, it will be too early to comment on the motive behind the crime. Our investigation is still on."

The deceased, who worked as a property-cum-scrap dealer, had come from Chandigarh and had gone to his friend's house in Shakarpur area from where he was reported missing. The police have recorded the statement of his family members and his call details are being examined. HTC
