But, who are most wanted?

EITHER THE senior cops have forgotten the most wanted list or they just don?t want to let the world know who they want to save. These hardcore criminals are on the run for last six years. But, none of the DGPs, IGs and DIGs of Lucknow zone and the range, respectively, or the SSPs posted in Lucknow during last five years ever initiated any effort to check this list of baddies.

EITHER THE senior cops have forgotten the most wanted list or they just don’t want to let the world know who they want to save.

These hardcore criminals are on the run for last six years. But, none of the DGPs, IGs and DIGs of Lucknow zone and the range, respectively, or the SSPs posted in Lucknow during last five years ever initiated any effort to check this list of baddies.

Soon after taking charge as the director general of police (DGP) UP, Bua Singh laid stress on the arrest of the wanted criminals. He issued stern directives to all the district police chiefs and the senior officials to comply with the order strictly.

When enquired SSP Ashutosh Pandey on Thursday he could not reveal any of the names in the wanted list.

The dreaded among the wanted list is Israr Paggal of Kanpur. Israr, who carries a reward of Rs 50,000 has created terror among the policemen in Lucknow and Kanpur both since the year 2000. A sub-inspector (S-I) Pramesh Shukla and a constable Nisar Ahmed had fallen prey to the ire of the gangster. The policemen were shot at damaging one of the kidneys of Pramesh.

The incident had taken place on May 8 when Israr kidnapped son of a businessman from Unnao. He was running away with the victim on a car towards Lucknow and the Unnao police had flashed the message to their counterpart.

A message with the car number was further flashed to all the police stations in the city on wireless sets. S-I Shukla, the then in-charge of Uddyan outpost in Gomti Nagar, moving on his motorcycle along with the constable spotted the car on Gomti barrage. He waved the car driver to stop the vehicle but the latter ignored and accelerated towards Gomti Nagar.

Shukla chased the car and succeeded to catch the car near Gomti Nagar crossing. Since the S-I had taken the message lightly he and the constable walked close to the car casually. No sooner they went close, Israr opened fire with his .455 bore revolver at the cops giving no chance to Shukla and the constable to retaliate. Israr escaped after shooting at the cops. Pramesh and Nisar both were awarded out-of-turn promotions later.

Another criminal who has left Lucknow cops in tizzy is Sachin Pahadi. Pahadi too carries a reward of Rs 20,000 and the cops have lost all hopes to trace him.
