Call centre employee hangs self

india Updated: Aug 10, 2009 01:24 IST

A 22-year-old call centre employee was found dead at his residence at MHB Colony in Malad on Sunday morning.
Nandlala Soni (50) found his son Pawan hanging in the balcony outside his room and informed the police.
No suicide note was found in his room.

Jaywant Hergude, senior police inspector of Malwani police station, said: “On Sunday, when Pawan’s father went to wake him up, he found Pawan hanging in the balcony by a nylon rope. Nandlala rushed him to hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.”

The police are investigating the reason behind his death.

Pawan had recently started working with a call centre at Malad and was doing MBA from a private university.
“We have found that Pawan had received a call around 1.45 am from his girlfriend. When we asked the neighbours, they too told us that they had seen Pawan talking on phone late in the night,” added Hergude.

The police suspect that Pawan might have committed suicide after the phone call. They suspect that rejection from a girl might be the reason behind Pawan taking such a drastic step.

“We tried to contact the girl whom he spoke to but could not reach her,” added Hergude. Pawan’s father owns an imitation jewellery-making factory at Malvani. A case of accidental death has been registered.

During the return journey, the train will terminate at Andheri station.
