Satish Kumar Gupta, HR manager at Infosys, thought he had tied up all the loose ends after murdering his wife Priyanka, but the alibis he gave became his nemesis.
After slitting 30-year-old Priyanka’s throat, Gupta, 32, callled his friend Kishen from her cellphone and went jogging with him.
In his complaint, Gupta had said he received a call from his wife on his cellphone at 5.43 am on August 10, three minutes after he left for the jog with his friend Kishen. He said two strangers posing as newspaper vendors were asking about delivery of newspapers.
Gupta said he had asked Priyanka to send them back as he had not approached anybody. Gupta said that when he came back, he found Priyanka dead.
“This was the first lie as we found out through the mobile tower location records that both Satish and Priyanka’s cellphones were in the same location,” a policeman said.
Gupta, arrested last night, had strangulated his wife and slit her throat. She was found bound to a chair. Gupta had confessed to the crime, police said.
“Marital discord and personal differences could be the motive,” an officer said.
