Candidates step up campaigning

AS THE civic election is round the corner, the candidates from various parties stepped up their campaigning here on Monday.

Manzoor Ahmed, Congress Mayoral candidate, visited several wards, including Cantonment, on Monday and campaigned for himself and the candidates contesting the corporators seats. He campaigned on the Lucknow Vikas Rath in Cantonment and proceeded to Parag Dairy, Rajajipuram Crossing, Kothari Brother corssing and appealed to the voters to vote for the Congress contestants.

During the campaign, Manzoor Ahmad was accompanied by former minister Swaroop Kumari Bakshi, MLC Naseeb Pathan, Begum Habiullah, former MLA Rafi Siddiqui, president of the city unit of the Congress Achal Mehrotra, party spokesperson Virendra Madan and others.

Atal, Rajnath to boost BJP

FORMER PRIME Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, BJP president Rajnath Singh and senior leaders including Kalyan Singh, Vinay Katiyar, Keshri Nath Tripathi and Lalji Tandon will campaign for party candidates for local bodies elections.

In an official communiqué, the party said that former PM would address a gathering on October 27 at Kapoorthala Crossing at 6 pm and at Chandan Nagar, Alambagh at 8 pm while Rajnath Singh would address a meeting at Rajajipuram on October 26 at 7 pm.

Former CM Kalyan Singh would address a meeting at Munshipulia crossing on October 28 at 6 pm and another at Sitapur Road at 8 pm. Vinay Katiyar would hold a meeting at Raja Bazar on October 29 at 9 pm. Kesrinath Tripathi and Lalji Tandon would also hold a meeting on October 25 at Nishatganj at 6 pm.
