Nikhil Sen, director, Rosebys says, “Taper, pillar, container, votive, gel and tealights are some of the popular candles available in the market.” Lipika Sud, chairperson, Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID), adds, “Long stem candles, wax candles, round candles and travel candles are available in the markets these days” But before going on a candle shopping spree, one must keep some points in mind. “A candle must be reusable,” says Raseel Gujral, interior designer, adding, “These should be drip less, fragrant and should also have a better life.”
Sud says painted candles, candles with mirror pieces and embedded dry flowers are popular. According to Sen, mood glow candles, which combine the beauty of a real flame with LED technology to add colour and sustainable light, are also becoming popular.” With an average burning time of approximately 15 hours, these are guaranteed talking points at any dinner party.
Wise placement of candles can add a unique touch to any corner. Interior designer Nupur Gupta says that at the entrance, one can put floating candles in a platter or an udli placed on the floor.” “For formal areas, place candles in glass jars.
