A high intensity explosion in the garbage dump inside the army cantonment area on Saturday left four persons injured, two very critically.

The high intensity blast took place at around 10:30 am when the victims were unloading a tractor-full of garbage on to another pile nearby which was emitting smoke.

Suddenly the four persons, who were 8 to 10 feet away helping the driver reverse the tractor, were knocked over by the explosion.

Baldev Raj (50) lost a leg and a hand, while Paramjit Singh (40) got badly hit in his stomach. Ajit Singh (45)the driver, and Uttam Chand (54) were hit by splinters on the back and chest.
