From childhood favourites like porridge to slick granola shakes, make the most of spring mornings with these new breakfast options across the city. Zofeen Maqsood writes.india Updated: Mar 16, 2013 00:23 IST
While the mercury continues to rise, it's the time of the year again when one looks forward to get out of the bed for an early morning walk in the balmy breeze, before the sun takes on the day relentlessly. Quite an apt time then to also explore breakfast options available around the city.
While traditionally Indians have had a culture of having breakfast, in their homes, with only a handful of places such as All American Diner or Coffee House serving breakfast early, it's interesting to see the trend changing little bit. Sid Mathur, co-owner, Smoke House Deli says, "Culturally Indians have always regarded breakfast as a meal that was had at home. This was also because families had cooks at home who would make their aloo parathas or butter omlettes, but with a lot of young professionals living on their own, the trend is reflecting the culture in New York or London."
Also people are getting more health aware. Chef Ravinder Singh says, "Breakfast outing is the new urban trend. It suits people if stuff like eggs benedicts and probiotic smoothies with anti-oxidant tea is available readily. Needless to add disposable incomes and flair to live a cosmopolitan life are other factor s adding to the culture."
