Highlight Story

TWO UNIDENTIFIED car-borne youths allegedly attempted to kidnap a nine-year-old schoolgirl from the bus stop in Habibganj on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the girl, a student of Class II, was left at the bus stop at Banskhedi by her mother in the morning. No sooner did her mother left than a car stopped there and the youths told the child that her school bus would not come today. They offered to drop her to the school.

Meanwhile, some senior girls of the school also came to the stop and the duo repeated the same story before them. The girl’s mother who was returning home saw the car stopping near the girls and smelt a rat. As she came back, the car sped off.

She later approached the traffic personnel and told the number of the car to them. However, it was found that no car under this number was registered with the Regional Transport Office rather it was the number of a two-wheeler. A complaint was later made to the police. Police are investigating the matter further.
