A person was seriously injured when a speeding Honda City car hit him while he was walking home in DLF Colony, Sector 14, on Tuesday night.

After knocking down the victim, the car driver also rammed four parked cars and dashed into the boundary wall of a house before fleeing the spot.

The victim, identified as Parivesh Jain, is a purchase engineer and works in Metso Mineral India Private Limited in Gurgaon.

He has suffered multiple injuries on his head, face and feet and is undergoing treatment in a hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

Passersby who rushed Jain to hospital have also noted down the car registration number.

The police have recorded Jain’s statement.

“The incident took place around 10.30pm while I was returning home after having dinner. The people inside the car were drunk and the driver might have lost control. I saw them hit five vehicles before they sped away. There was another car coming from behind and the passengers saw me and rushed me to hospital,” said Jain.

“The errant driver hit our vehicles thrice and he also dragged a car for a distance of about five feet,” said house owner LM Gandhi, whose boundary wall collapsed due to the impact of the hit.

The police said they have filed an FIR and investigation is on.

“We have got the registration number of the car and will trace the accused driver soon,” an officer said.

Senior police officials said they are investigating the matter and action will be initiated soon.

Jain, however, is apprehensive and said the accused driver may never be caught due to police inaction.
