Car of Surjit Singh Barnala's wife stoned

india Updated: May 07, 2009 01:00 IST

Supporters of SAD leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Wednesday stoned the car of Surjit Kaur, wife of Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, in retaliation to yesterday's incident in which the Barnala loyalists targeted the former.

She was returning after attending a function under Barnala district when supporters of Dhindsa, sitting MP and SAD candidate from the parliamentary seat, attacked her vehicle near village Wazidke Khurd.

The widow-panes of the car got damaged. However, Barnala had a narrow escape.

Kaur alleged that the accused were in three cars having stickers of Dhindsa on their vehicles and were raising slogans against Barnala.

On being contacted, Dhindsa denied any knowledge of the incident.
