india Updated: Nov 09, 2006 15:23 IST

A TWO-DAY national conference on carbon – ‘Carbon 2006’ will be organised at the HEG Limited, Mandideep from November 9. Commerce & Industry Minister Babulal Gaur will inaugurate the conference at 9 am. The Indian Carbon Society, a member of Asian Association of Carbon Groups holds carbon conference in the country, once in two years.

It is for the second time that the HEG Limited has been selected to host the conference. Earlier in 1994, the HEG was selected to host it.

“The conference would provide us platform to disseminate information and share knowledge on carbon usage and compare ours to world standards,” said HEG Limited president SK Tiwari.  He said around 150 delegates comprising scientists, experts, industry representatives and users would participate in the conference.

“There’s a wide use of carbon – in steel, aluminium, tyre industry, aircraft, making electrodes and activated carbon is used in refrigerators and in AC rooms as air purifiers, for water purifying,” mentioned Advisor (R&D) to HEG, Dr OP Bahl.
HEG Ltd, Bhopal, COO, Jacob Mani said the conference has been organised in collaboration with Regional Research Laboratory at the newly constructed R&D centre of HEG Ltd.

“In fact, this state-of-the-art R&D centre is fulfillment of long cherished desire of LNJ Bhilwara Group Chairman Emeritus, LN Jhunjhunwala,” said Mani, expecting a large-scale participation in the conference.
