Noida authority has lodged a complaint against a contractor for getting payment of Rs 81 lakh on forged documents. Police are not ruling out the involvement of Noida Authority officials in the matter.
“Authority Chief (F&A) Officer Sushil Kumar lodged a complaint on Friday evening against Jeet Contractor on charges of forgery and cheating,” said Jagveer Singh, Station Officer of Sector 20 Police Station.
“It was stated that the contractor raised bills worth Rs 81 lakh even though he had not done any work and was neither issued a work contract,” Kumar said in his complaint.
“An FIR was registered against the owner of the company, Chandan Mandal alias Lalit Kumar, last week. His name and address were found to be fake,” he said.
Mandal had produced a voucher with signatures of seven authority officials and their seals as per routine payment procedure of the Noida Authority.
The contractor then submitted the voucher to the accounts department and on the basis of the forged documents, got cheques worth Rs 81 lakh.
“It was later found that the signatures on the voucher were all fake. The officials also submitted in an affidavit stating that the signatures are not theirs,” the policeman said.
“Without the connivance of the authority staff, a fraud of such a nature where file passes through several tables can not take place. Authority officials were also questioned,” station officer Jagveer Singh added.
Meanwhile, Noida Authority CEO Mohinder Singh has ordered checking of payments given in the last two years.
