Case registered against bus driver

A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was registered against the driver of the bus which was hit by Ferozepur-bound Satluz Express in Mogar on Friday killing 18 people and injuring 14 of them.

A case was also registered against the gate man, Kulvinder Singh along with driver Iqbal Singh under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) 337 (endangering public safety) 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 175 of Railway Act with the Government Railway Police Station, Faridkot, an official spokesman said.

According to preliminary inquiry conducted by the Railway authorities, the driver of the mini bus jumped out of the vehicle after noticing the approaching train and fled. A hunt has been launched for him, he said.

Meanwhile, the body of a woman, who died in the accident, was brought to Moga civil hospital in the afternoon. She was identified as Harjit Kaur, wife of Harpal Singh of Maliana village in Moga.
