SLEUTHS OF the CB-CID raided the residences of former deputy mayor Abhay Seth and ex-corporator Ashok Mishra in Aliganj on Tuesday, but failed to arrest them. The court had issued a warrant against Seth and Mishra after they failed to appear for a hearing in a murder case, though several notices were served on them in the last few days.

The CB-CID had filed a charge-sheet in the case a few days ago. The sleuths were now proceeding to procure a property attachment order against the accused.

A case was registered at Aliganj police station against the then station officer DDS Rathaur, policemen Munshilal, Shiv Bhushan and Ram Chander and Abhay Seth and Ashok Mishra in 1997. Complainant Sadguru Mishra had alleged that Seth and Mishra had handed over his son Gopal to the police team. Gopal, a history-sheeter and resident of Shekhupura Chandganj, was gunned down in an alleged police encounter on February 26, 1994.

Sadguru had claimed it was a fake encounter.

Separate teams of the CB-CID, accompanied by policemen from Aliganj police station and PAC personnel, raided the Chaudhary Tola residence of Ashok Mishra and the Chandganj Colony residence of Abhay Seth in the morning. The two were absconding. Deputy SP Prem Prakash led the team.

The CB-CID team had raided the houses two days ago, too, but in vain.

The sleuths said Seth’s two mobile phones had remained switched off for the last three days. They enquired from family members of both the accused, but got no information about the duo.
