CBI has arrested an assistant postmaster for taking a bribe of Rs 6000 and recovered some documents regarding his assets in Bihar's Nalanda district, official sources said on Thursday.
Acting on the complaint of one Shashi Yadav, CBI sleuths laid a trap for Umesh Singh, posted at Katri Sarai post office, and arrested him red handed last night, the sources said.
The CBI team on Thursday raided Singh's residence at New Area locality in adjoining Nawada district and recovered some documents about his assets and investments, they said.
While Singh was officially arrested and taken to the state capital for his production before the CBI court, the Nawada postal division superintendent Rameshwar Rameshwar Ram too has been taken along by the CBI sleuths for questioning, the sources said.
Yadav, in his complaint to the CBI, had said that the accused assistant postmaster had been demanding Rs 6000 per month for carriage of his parcel, they added.
