A special CBI court on Tuesday will hear CBI’s plea seeking cancellation of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s bail in three cases of murder and molestation of a woman disciple against him.
The CBI had filed an application in the court of Special Judge for CBI, Haryana, AS Narang, for the cancellation of bail of the Dera chief in all three cases. The arguments on this application had begun on May 8.
The Sirsa-headquartered sect head has been charged with conspiracy in the murders of Sirsa journalist Ram Chander Chattarpati and Dera functionary Ranjit Singh while he is main and lone accused in the molestation case pertaining to a Dera Sadhvi.
The CBI had filed an application in December 2008 in this court in which it requested the court to cancel the bail of the Dera chief.
The routine hearing in sexual exploitation of Dera Sadhvi case was conducted through video conferencing in the court of A S Narang. CBI counsel HPS Verma and defence counsel S K Garg Narwana were also present in the court.
The sect head appeared in the district court at Sirsa.
The CBI produced a forensic expert of Delhi Paul Ramesh as a witness in the court who had conducted the polygraph test of Inder Sain and Awtar Singh, stated to be the functionaries of the Dera and accused in Ranjit murder case.
The forensic expert disclosed before the court that deception was established in the polygraph test of Awtar Singh and Inder Sain.
The hearing in Chattarpati murder case could not be conducted today as the counsel of one of the accused of the case was not present in the court. The court fixed May 29 for the next hearing in this case.
