The special CBI court has deferred the hearing on the bail application of Peter Mukerjea booked in Sheena Bora murder case till January 16 as CBI sought more time to file a reply.

Peter, husband of prime accused Indrani Mukerjea, was arrested on November 19 for his alleged role in the murder of her daughter Sheena. The agency alleged that he was part of the conspiracy and knew about Indrani’s plan against Sheena.

Peter had on Monday moved a bail application through his lawyer Mihir Gheewala and Kushal Mor alleging that he was kept in dark and knew nothing about the murder.

On Tuesday when the case was called, CBI lawyer Kavita Patil mentioned that the agency has not been served with the copy. Peter’s counsel Gheewala told the court that the copy would be served soon. The agency later sought time to file reply to his bail application till January 16.

In the bail application running into 30 pages, Peter alleged that he has been falsely implicated by the CBI without any evidence. “It is absurd to suggest that the applicant would conspire with his wife’s ex-husband to murder Sheena... All the allegation of CBI in this regards are in air,” reads Peter’s bail application.
