Hyderabad Police has found a compact disc in which a little-known outfit Tehrik Galba-e-Islami is said to have claimed responsibility for the killing of a constable in old city area in Hyderabad on Friday.
The CD was found at the spot near the police picket in Shali-Ali Banda area where a police constable was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants. Police, which earlier said they were probing whether any terror operative carried out the attack, were yet to verify the full facts from the CD.
The same outfit had left behind a pamphlet written in Urdu after suspected terrorists opened fire on a police picket near Falaknuma on May 18 last year killing a home guard and injuring a constable.
The shooting at Falaknuma coincided with the second anniversary of Mecca Masjid bomb blast here while today's incident comes four days ahead of its third anniversary.
A senior police officer told PTI tonight that they had found a CD from the crime scene and were going through its contents. "We have to verify the facts."
The pamphlet found by police last year had carried the signature of Tehrik-Galba-e-Islami's Mohammed Fasiuddin, who had claimed responsibility for the Falaknuma attack saying it was aimed at "avenging" the killing of five Muslims in the police firing subsequent to the bomb blasts in Mecca Masjid.
