The residents of Pargwal area in Akhnoor had to endure a night of terror and inconvenience as Pakistan violated the ceasefire yet again hours after a flag meeting between the two sides on Wednesday.

Explaining the villagers? woes, the local residents of the area said that the people were not able to sleep peacefully.

Last night, the firing began when Pakistan fired at around midnight and then India started retaliating at around 2.30 am. See how the people here are living in tension, they can neither sleep nor live peacefully. The kids are not going to school, a local resident told ANI here.

Questioning why the flag meeting was held with Pakistan, another villager Sanjay Singh demanded rehabilitation by the government.

The village is in terror. What was the point of yesterday?s flag meeting with Pakistan? The whole village is in terror. The firing started from midnight and lasted till around 6 am. The government should provide us plots at another place and rehabilitate us, he said.

A fresh round of ceasefire violation by Pakistan took place in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir late Wednesday.

Reacting to the fresh round of firing, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nalin Kohli said the NDA Government will give an appropriate and befitting reply to such violations.

"With regard to the continuous incidents of ceasefire violations, all I can say is that PM Modi's government will give an appropriate and befitting reply wherever such violations take place," Kohli told ANI.

Congress leader Manish Tewari, however, said it was due to the failure of the present government that the situation at LoC and the International Border is so tense.

"For 10 years there was peace at LoC and at International Border, why then after they came to power the peace is disrupted? Government must decide its policy towards Pakistan," he said.

Lt. Gen. (Retired) Raj Kadyan also commented on the ceasefire violations.

Ceasefire violations are not the cause of but the result of a problem, those problems need to go, else these will go on. The internal state of Pakistan and upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections are some factors that might be the cause of these ceasefire violations, he explained.
