Central government has approved Rs 8 crore for the development of Rafiabad-Brenwar-Bangus circuit in northern Jammu and Kashmir to attract visitors toward this virgin tourist destination.
"To boost tourism activities in Rafiabad-Brenwar-Bangus circuit, which lies in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, the centre has approved Rs 8 crore," Minister of State for Roads and Buildings Javaid Ahmad Dar said.
"The first phase will cover the laying of basic infrastructure, including construction of lodging and boarding facilities and means of communication," the minister said on Friday.
Dar said the project would not only boost tourism in the area, but also improve socio-economic status of the people living there.
"The completion of the circuit would also open employment avenues for youth. Government would initiate steps to exploit tourism potential in the other areas also," he said.
The minister said picturesque spots in the districts of north Kashmir would be developed in a systematic manner under the tourist circuit scheme to attract domestic and international visitors.
