The Centre is closely monitoring the situation after a heavy downpour in Mumbai and has offered all kind of assistance to Maharashtra Government.
An official spokesman said Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Home Secretary VK Duggal were closely monitoring the situation in the metropolis and the problems arising out of the downpour.
He said that Maharashtra Government had been assured all kind of assistance but the state government had informed the Centre that it was coping up with its own resources.
The flood water had also started receding in the metropolis though the MeT office had predicted heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours.
The disaster control room in the Union Home Ministry was monitoring the situation on hourly basis.
