Centurion game will inspire us

Losing to the Deccan Chargers in the manner we did, was disappointing. When the innings began, the pitch was a bit sticky, and it wasn’t easy to get the ball away. We got a slow start and then lost three wickets in a cluster. But the manner in which Virat Kohli and Jacques Kallis kicked on, and how Cameron White smashed it at the end, gave us a total that we should have been able to defend.
Eight times out of ten you will back yourself to defend 180-plus. The pitch offering assistance to the quick bowlers, our score was perhaps slightly above par. But we just did not string together good overs.
The other thing that has been the source of discussion has been the combination of our team. We've tried a few options, which is something you have to do when you have so much quality in the group. The unit we put on the park on Thursday was the right one for the day and that particular game. When you have different guys chipping in at different times of the innings, it's the ideal situation to be in.
The situation we’re in is quite similar to where we were last year. At the moment, KKR are on par with us in the points table which means that we need to take points from this game.
It was the game against KKR that spurred us on last year. In Centurion, KKR had put up 173 and the run chase was looking tough. But Ross Taylor came out and made 81 off 33 to see us home in dramatic fashion. Perhaps, we'll look back at that for inspiration on Saturday.
