THE AIR was thick with rumours that Anant Gupta, the kidnapped three-year-old son of Adobe System India CEO, has been kept in the custody of Chambal bandit Jagjivan Parihar.
Jagjivan is carrying a reward of over Rs 5 lakh on his head announced by MP and Uttar Pradesh police. DIG Chambal Range D C Sagar did not rule out the possibility of the kidnapped boy changing hands through a chain of organised crime. “We have intensified patrolling and combing after the news from media”, he said.
He said the police were not ruling out any possibility and as precautionary measure have the forces to be extra vigilant.
Anant, son of Naresh Gupta, was kidnapped from NOIDA in UP on Monday. Sagar added that the photos and other details of Anant have been asked by the NOIDA police to be sent to other locations for identification.
“As soon other details about the kidnapped boy are available with us, we will circulate them”, Sagar said. Sources said the possibility of strike by Jagjivan at this point of time is dim because of the pressure of other persons abducted by him.
He had kidnapped four villagers from Morena on October 28 and later released Ramgovind Gurjar with a ransom note. Jagjivan had demanded Rs 11 lakh each from Ramlakahn Gurjar, Rajendra Gurjar and Gudda Dandotia.
