Chanakya athletes dominate

CHANAKYA COLLEGE dominated in men’s categories on Sunday in the Barkatullah University inter-collegiate athletics meet that began at the Maj Dhyanchand grounds on Saturday.

Chanakya College athletes stood first in men’s 1500m (Gajendra Singh), 800m (Mohd Atif), 4X400m relay and javelin throw. Hamidia College and BHEL College grabbed first position in 5000m and 100m. 

In the women’s section, Aryan’s College athletes dominated the day. Aryan’s athletes stood first in 1550m (Sunita), 800m (Sunita) and javelin throw (Deepika Pal).

Earlier in the opening ceremony, chief guests Assistant Commandant RAF Mukti Roy and inspector Kamla Rawat inaugurated the meet. Speaking on the occasion, former international athlete Mukti Roy said that honest effort is the only way to achieve success. She called upon the participants to work hard and extended good wishes.

On the occasion, BU physical education department director Akhilesh Sharma, sports officer Khalil Khan, Alok Mishra, Yogendra Sengar, Anil Tanwar and others were present.
