Schools from Chandigarh dominated their opponents on Thursday in the 28th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the National Stadium here. Government Model High School (GMHS) Chandigarh crushed Government Adarsh PM Shala, Janjgeer, Chapa (Chhattishgarh) 20-0.

GMHS attacked from the word go and scored their first goal in the first minute through a penalty-corner. It was Gurjeet Singh who scored seven goals for his side giving the opposition no chance to come back into the game. GMHS led 16-0 at halftime and continued to mount pressure, scoring four more in the second half.

In another match, Shivalik Public School (SPS), Chandigarh got the better of Bal Vidyalaya Guru Niwas High School (BVGNHS), Jammu and Kashmir 15-0. SPS were ahead 8-0 at halftime.

Bal bhawan beat CRPF

On the second day of the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge on Thursday, Bal Bhavan School, Dwarka beat CRPF, Dwarka 2-1. Sumit Singh Yadav and Gaulbin scored the goals for the winners, while Ratnakar was on target for the losers. St. Marks, Meera Bagh defeated Ryan International, Rohini 3-0, with Dhruv scoring a brace and Sagar the other goal. GD Goenka, Rohini beat Lancer's, Rohini 6-3 on penalties. The teams played out an entertaining 2-2 draw and the score remained the same after extra-time. Goenka's Amrit scored a brace, while for Lancer's, Mohit Bisht netted two.

Vivek spins Delhi to victory

Left arm spinner Vivek Mishra's 5/37 helped Delhi beat J&K by seven wickets in the North Zone U-19 cricket Tournament.

Chasing 169, Mohit Sharma hit unbeaten 65 to help the team cruise to a comfortable win. Shaily Shaurya 2/30 and Pawan Nwgi 2/33 and Rajeev Bose (34 no) were main contributors for Delhi.
