Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu met Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday to seek support for anti-Telangana issue.
Sena has been against carving out smaller states. It has also opposed the demand of separate Vidarbha, which its long-time ally BJP supports.
Naidu's party colleagues had met Sena president in this regard in the past as well.
The meeting also signified united stand of regional parties which do not want their respective states to divide or break away in to smaller states.
Sena is likely to loose its political prowess in Maharashtra in case a smaller Vidarbha where BJP has larger presence.
