N Chandrababu Naidu was unanimously re-elected president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) here today on the concluding day of the party's three-day annual conference 'Mahanadu.'
This is for the 15th consecutive year that Naidu has been chosen by the party as its chief. He has now surpassed party's founder president and his father-in-law NT Rama Rao in the stint as party chief as Rao held the TDP's reins for 14 years between 1982 and 1996.
In all, 21 sets of nominations were filed in favour of Chandrababu Naidu for the party president's election.
Adilabad MP Ramesh Rathod, who was the election officer, formerly announced Naidu's election this afternoon amidst a huge applause by the party rank and file.
Film actor and his brother-in-law N Balakrishna, who was by his side when the election was announced, was the first to congratulate Naidu followed by senior leaders Yerran Naidu and others.
Naidu cut a cake on the occasion and received greetings from scores of party workers.
