Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu will be elected leader of the party's legislature wing in Hyderabad on May 21.
The newly-elected MLAs of TDP will meet at the party headquarters NTR Bhavan in Hyderabad on May 21 to formally elect Chandrababu Naidu as the leader of their 90-member group in the state Assembly, according to party senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy.
By virtue of his party's strength in the 294-member House, Naidu will also become the Leader of Opposition, with a Cabinet minister status.
This is for the second consecutive term that Naidu will be the Leader of Opposition after having served as Chief Minister of the state for nine years.
Meanwhile, the TDPs two-day annual conference 'Mahanadu' will be held at Imperial Gardens here on May 27 and 28. The 'Mahanadu' will be the platform for the party to review its electoral performance this year.
Traditionally, the TDP holds its annual conference coinciding with the party founder-president NT Rama Rao's birth anniversary on May 28. This years 'Mahanadu' will, however, be a low-key affair what with the TDP failing to regain power in the state, though it has almost doubled its tally from 48 to 90 this time.
