Sudhakar Chaturvedi, arrested in connection with the Malegaon blast will be produced before a MCOCA court on Friday after he was given transit remand by a Nashik magistrate court.
Chaturvedi, who was arrested on November 4 by the city police with a fake army identity card and country made pistol in his possession, was taken into custody by the ATS yesterday.
"He was produced before the court today where we argued that we had information of Chaturvedi having links with arrested army official Lt Col Purohit which is why his custody was needed," special counsel for the ATS Ajay Misar told PTI.
Eight of the other accused in the September 29 Malegaon blast are also expected to be produced before a MCOCA court.
Eleven persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the blast which claimed six lives and injured over 80.
ATS had invoked sections of the stringent MCOCA against the accused in the case yesterday.
