Chennai will go the distance: Warne

Shane Warne tipped Chennai Super Kings to go all the way and said Rajasthan Royals were let down by batsmen far too often to have any realistic chance of defending the title.
That he said on Wednesday might go to MS Dhoni’s team. “I think it’s Chennai not Delhi who are the best team of the tournament. Chennai are probably going to make it,” Warne said after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders.
“I think we were the best bowling side of the tournament. We were again as good as anyone, if not the best, in terms of our bowling strategies, field placements and tactics. But our regular batting failure let us down,” Warne said.
He said they had a couple of batsmen performing consistently but this time, repeated top-order failure put a lot of pressure on fielders and bowlers.
“The top three or four batsmen just didn’t get going. We were always few wickets down in the first six or eight overs leaving the later batsmen with a lot to do.
“More often than not, the batsmen just gave us a par score to defend and we had to bowl and field fantastically well to make up for it,” he said.
The Rajasthan Royals captain said it was a huge disappointment to not make it to the semifinals but promised they would come back fighting next year.
