The Chhattisgarh Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) is all set to play an important part in attracting new investments into the country, focussed on Chhattisgarh. The corporation is bullish and confident that its policy and processes will attract big investments into the state. This will generate employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Devendra Singh, managing director of the CSIDC, spells out his priorities. Excerpts:
Chhattisgarh is opening up for investments and the CSIDC is expected to play an important role in this strategy. What will the CSIDC bring to the table to help attract big-ticket investments in the state?
The CSIDC in the past has effectively implemented Public Private Partnership in the state. Chhattisgarh is ready for new investments, with all the requisite policy, infrastructure, systems and process. The industrial policy, the information technology policy and special economic zone (SEZ) has been designed to give a glimpse of our transparent and effective processes and procedures for prospective investors from both India and abroad. As part of the state's growth and development initiatives, the CSIDC's board closely works with the various departments in the state to formulate, amend and review investments that flow into the state. The CSIDC board is confident that the prospective investors will find it even more attractive to invest in Chhattisgarh.
What are the major achievements of the CSIDC?
Since the inception of Chhattisgarh, many initiatives taken simultaneously by the state have helped the CSIDC. It is one of the major reasons that the CSIDC has been able to take many initiatives. Some of the major achievements are setting up of industrial growth centres in Raipur, Sirgtti, Anjani in Bilaspur, one each in Narayanpur in Sarguja district and Kapan in Janjgir district, Teknar in Dantewada, and Harin Chhapra in Kawrdha district. We have have set up gems and jewellery park, food processing park, metal park and herbal processing park.
What more can the CSIDC offer to prospective investors?
Setting up of Naya Raipur is our major achievement. The CSIDC is geared up to provide the necessary support for industries in nine core sectors in the state. The nine core areas are information technology and IT-enabled services, engineering and automobiles, handicrafts, tourism and healthcare, agro and food processing, new and renewable energy, minor forest produce, urban infrastructure and biotechnology and pharmaceutical. This would help in the development of Naya Raipur as the management hub for firms setting up industries.
How closely does the CSIDC deal with the development of Naya Raipur?
The CSIDC has been closely associated with Naya Raipur since its inception. The chief executive officer (CEO) of Naya Raipur Development Authority is on Board of the CSIDC. We have held regular meetings to ensure that every aspect of urban development, industrial and special economic zones are efficient not only in the physical sense but also in the working of policy.
