Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday filed his nomination papers seeking re-election from the prestigious Sivaganga Lok Sabha seat.
Chidambaram, accompanied by his son Karthik Chidambaram, submitted his papers to District Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal.
Chidambaram was Tamil Maanila Congress MP twice and Congress Lok Sabha member four times but lost the electoral battle once to Congress' Sudarsan Natchiappan when he contested on TMC ticket.
He was also accompanied by State Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister K R Periyakaruppan, Tiruvadanai MLA K R Ramasamy and Pudukottai DMK secretary Periyannan Arasu.
Congress is contesting the Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu as part of the DMK-led front.
