Union Home Minister P Chidambaram will visit Jharkhand Saturday to review the security situation in the state and discuss the Maoist problem with senior officials, official sources said Friday.
He will arrive at the Ranchi airport around 10 a.m. by a special plane and leave by 2 p.m.
The minister will meet Governor Syed Sibte Razi and senior government officials who will give him first hand information on the internal security of the state and state preparedness to deal with Maoist menace and terrorist attacks.
Jharkhand chief secretary and police chief are likely to demand additional security forces in light of the upcoming general elections.
After Chidambaram took charge of the home ministry November last year, he visited Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Assam.
