Chief secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday on Friday reviewed the preparations for the annual session of the Indian Science Congress and the upcoming budget session of the state legislature, during the periodic meeting of the committee of secretaries.
The chief secretary received was briefed about the arrangements put in place for the conference to be held at Jammu University from February 3 to 7.
The 101st Annual Session of the Indian Science Congress will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Delegates comprising international experts, along with national luminaries, are expected to participate in the event.
Khanday was apprised about the arrangements at the venue, accommodation and transportation facilities for the delegates besides arrangements put in place by power development department (PDD), public health engineering (PHE), municipal corporation, transport and other departments for the event.
The meeting also discussed the preparations for the upcoming session of the state legislature starting February 10, with directions to all administrative secretaries to get ready for the session and actively cooperate with the law department, legislative council and assembly secretariat for the successful conduct of the legislative business.
