Feeling humiliated after allegedly being stripped in class by her teacher, a Class VI student hanged herself from a ceiling fan hook in her house in Brahm Nagar of Bajaria area here on Friday/Saturday night.

Angry over the incident, family members and locals staged a demonstration at the school -- Purna Devi Khanna School, Nazirabad – and attempted to ransack its property, but police managed to persuade them against it.

Later, a written complaint was submitted against the lady teacher, but an FIR was not registered till late Saturday.

The mother of the deceased girl, Meera, told cops that her daughter Rupa reached home crying and told her that a Class 11 student had caught her using her mobile phone and took her to the teacher, who first beat her and then stripped her of her dress in front of classmates. The teacher also told the girl to bring her parents to school.

The girl took the extreme step when she was alone in her room.

Police, however, denied the charges levelled by the deceased’s mother and said Nazirabad circle officer Ankita Singh spoke to the girl’s classmates and found the charges false.

The circle officer, however, accepted that a written complaint against the teacher was received by the police. She said further investigation was on.
