Coming to the rescue of the children of migrant labourers working at the Commonwealth Games sites, the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has served notices to the Organising Committee and various government agencies.

Acting on a report by the NGO Child Relief and You (CRY), the DCPCR said the basic rights of the children of the migrant labourers have been violated.

The report highlighted the lack of proper housing, quality food, sanitation, water, health care and education facilities for these children.

The reported scenario stands in violation of the provisions of labour laws, Contract Labor Act, and various rules, including the Coverage of the Projects of Delhi Labour Welfare Board, under Approved Plan Scheme, pertaining to children on construction sites.

The DCPCR has asked various government authorities to examine the report and take appropriate action , including rescue, rehabilitation, and education of the affected children.
