Chinese incursion: Give clear message to China, says Omar Abdullah

Amid tension over repeated incursions by China in the Ladakh region, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has asked the Centre to give a clear-cut message to China on this issue.
"We would like the central government to take up this issue strongly with China as well as Pakistan on the same terms so that no such incident takes place again," said Omar.
The chief minister was addressing a public meeting at Bani in Kathua district of the Jammu region, about 300km from Jammu.
On April 15, China had intruded around 10km into Indian territory in Daulat Beg Oldi sector of the Leh region, following which India asked China to restore status quo in the region.
Reacting to the intrusion, Omar said, "This kind of situation has always put people living in frontier areas in difficulty, besides hampering the process of development," the CM added.
"The union government's dealing on such issues should be unambiguous and similar vis-à-vis both neighbours (China and Pakistan)," he added.
The chief minister said the people of Jammu, Kashmir, Leh, Kargil and other areas of the state had made sacrifices to protect and preserve solidarity, harmony and brotherhood.
"They want to be free from such intrusions and live in an atmosphere of calm and peace and carry on day-to-day activities smoothly," he asserted.
Omar stated that when Pakistan created trouble, India stopped cricketing ties.
"Now China is doing the same and we have to find an answer for this too," he said.
