After spending three weeks in New Delhi under police protection, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s younger daughter Srija returned to the city on Sunday.

Srija had eloped and married her boyfriend Sirish Bharadwaj against her family’s wishes on October 17. Accompanied by her husband, Srija checked into a new apartment at the Prakash Nagar locality in Begumpet district, close to where her in-laws reside. No one from Chiranjeevi's family was present at the airport to receive the couple. “I am very happy with Sirish and his family. We will set up our family right away,” Srija said.

“We will think over for a few days and thereafter decide our future course of action,” added Sirish.

The City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said he had received a request from the boy’s father seeking police protection for the couple.

Apparently fearing reprisal from Srija’s family and fans of her father, the couple had left for the Capital soon after tying the knot and stayed there for three weeks. They also moved Delhi High Court, which directed the police to provide them protection.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is reported to be away on a long holiday in the United States. A report appearing in a local newspaper said Chiranjeevi, before leaving for US, had instructed staff at his Jubilee Hills residence that in case Srija wants to return home with her husband, they should be allowed to stay.
