Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi will embark on the first leg of his mass contact programme from the far-off Srikakulam district in the north coastal Andhra region tomorrow.
The actor-turned politician will cover Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts in the first leg of his state tour, christened as "Praja Ankita Yatra," emphasising party's dedication to people.
There is a lot of curiosity surrounding Chiranjeevi's maiden tour of the state after the launch of his political party on August 26.
Though he visited three places in Telangana region- Sircilla, Polepalli and Gangadevipalli in the last fortnight, the visits were focused on local issues like weavers' suicides, unrest among farmers over forcible acquisition of farmland for special economic zone and the progress of a model gram panchayat.
The 'Praja Ankita Yatra' will, however, be a real test for Chiranjeevi, and also the Praja Rajyam, as he has to spell out the party's policies and priorities in clear terms.
Given his charisma as an actor, Chiranjeevi rallies are expected to attract huge crowds. But the people are curiously waiting to see how well can he interact with the local people and connect with them.
Though over 45 days have elapsed since the launch of Praja Rajyam, the party has not yet constituted even the state-level committee. It also did not come out with its set of policies and priorities though Chiranjeevi repeatedly said "the people's wishes are my party's agenda."
