The Aam Adami Party (AAP) has urged the electorate to vote for candidates with clean image during municipal corporation (MC) elections.
"As the AAP is in the nascent stage of formation, the party is not contesting the elections," state general secretary Ashawant Gupta told the media here on Friday. For the past 15 days, the party was spreading the message to shun dishonest and corrupt candidates, he said.
Gupta said that through 'nukkad nataks' (street plays) and road shows, the party had launched awareness campaign, asking voters to cast their franchise judiciously.
The AAP leader said if the voters find a candidate unsuitable, they should register their protest under Rule 49-0 of the Conduct of Elections Rules. The rule enables electors to exercise their right to dissent with the list of candidates.
