Choosy gal not too comfy with Bollywood!

Highlight Story

THE BIG screen’s a big ‘No’ for this small-screen actor. It’s not that Pallavi Kulkarni doesn’t want to work in Bollywood but, the lines she has drawn for herself, stop her from taking on film!

“I have set some ‘NOs’ for myself. No bold scenes, no skin shows and I can’t take kissing shots. In today’s scenario, do you think any good role will come with these restrictions?” she asks.

But, she will love to do Gayatri’s role in Swadesh. “From recent films I can just figure out one role I would have loved to do in Bollywood. If something good comes my way, which is according to the norms set by me, I will love to do it,” says Pallavi.

Or, is it that she has not got any good offers yet? “When you are doing good work why will offers not come your way? Not only me, offers come to every good actor of the small screen. Just that we never get around to discussing them. I declined some offers that didn’t suit me. Small screen is fine as the maximum required is that you hug a co-star!” She makes a point!

But, in Vaidehi—Ek Aur Agnipareeksha she accepted a bold subject where she is in a ‘marriage trap’ with an impotent person who treats her as a showpiece.

How was that acceptable to her?

“Marrying an impotent is no sin. There are such people present in society but hiding it from your partner is wrong. But, you see my ‘on-screen husband’ has no place for love. He just wants a puppet for the society, which is a bigger crime. I take it as a very positive story which has a very strong social message.”

How is her chemistry with Sachin Sharma who is playing her hubby in such a negative role? “He is a great actor. The way he changes his expression, I actually get terrified of him during the shoot. I hate the character. But, off-screen he is very casual with no airs about himself.”

Pallavi also likes a cool life so, she took a good eight-month break after her serial Kehta hai dil? “I went for a holiday and spent lots of time with my parents after the hectic schedule. Then, I was waiting for a good script, important role on prime time and good channel. And, though, it took a little time but it was worth waiting for. Working for ace-actor and director Aruna Irani, getting a lead in the prime-time slot with such a strong script… What more could have I asked for?”

Besides, her shooting commitments Pallavi is also taking up modelling assignments. Remember her with Aamir Khan in Panch ka panch for a cola giant? She prefers not to walk down the ramp but a couple of ad-commercials are on air these days. The latest being ‘Aviva Life Insurance’ and ‘Red Label’.

So, watch out for this gal!
