CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the 44th All India Kalidas Samaroh beginning in Ujjain from Wednesday. The seven-day biggest congregation of Sanskrit scholars and artists of dance, drama, painting and music is jointly organised by the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy, Vikram University and All India Kalidas Council under the aegis of the State Government.
According to the schedule, the inauguration ceremony will begin at 3 pm. State Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma would also be present on the occasion. During his two-hour visit, the CM would also attend a programme at a private school before flying back to Bhopal.
RITUALS FOR the All India Kalidas Samaroh were kicked off on Tuesday with an attractive Kalash Yatra being taken out. In the yatra, a pot containing water from the holy Kshipra was taken from Ramghat to the festival venue at Kalidas Academy. Here, the ‘kalash’ was placed amidst chanting of shlokas.
Folk artists were displaying their art during the yatra. Vikram University Vice Chancellor Ram Rajesh Mishra, Academy director Kamlesh Dutt Tripathi and Prakash Raghuvanshi were present on the occasion. Collector Neeraj Mandloi received the yatra at the Academy.
