Christainity too has a violent past

In response of honourable Pope?s comments I would like to initiate the dialogue mainly on the nature of religion and its association with violence. As described by Pope, according to Emperor Manual Mohammad brought nothing new except violence. This humorous statement or quotation shows two things that either Pope is suffering from Islamophobia or he has scant understanding of the history of Christianity and Biblical reference.

In response of honourable Pope’s comments I would like to initiate the dialogue mainly on the nature of religion and its association with violence. As described by Pope, according to Emperor Manual Mohammad (peace be upon him and mercy of God) brought nothing new except violence.

This humorous statement or quotation shows two things that either Pope is suffering from Islamophobia or he has scant understanding of the history of Christianity and Biblical reference. For reminding the nature of violence with Christianity I would like only to give few reference of Bible which are definitely responsible of blood bathing of humanity and merciless killing of the so called religion of mercy. I am sure Pope or any Christian theologian will not deny that at (Christians') God's command, the Israelites made war on Midian and slew all the men and burned their cities. [Numbers 31:7-12]

But Moses was angry because they had spared the women and children. So he ordered the soldiers to "kill every male dependent and kill every woman who has had intercourse with a man, but spare for yourselves every woman among them who has not had intercourse."[ibid, 31: 14-18]

Shortly thereafter, God gave Moses instructions for distributing the captive virgins among the fighting men and the community.[ibid 31: 25-47].

This is a very general and precise picture of Christianity's merciful views towards humanity. I am not here to condemn Christianity alone but want to only remind violence with religion only cannot be associated with a particular religion. Christianity came in existence 600 years before Islam and its history and its teachings are full of violence and killing of humanity.

Whether Islam is associated with violence it's reference are always misguided and misinterpreted. If really Christianity wants to join Islam on intellectual discourse it must stand with the original interpretation of Islamic texts and must not quote the anti-Islam's views.

It will make only injustice with Islam while referring the quotations of the anti-Islamic elements whether contemporary or in past unless Pope sees in the real text of Islam.
