STRONGLY PROTESTING against the hanging of Iraq’s former president Saddam Hussain, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Bhopal District Committee, on Friday burnt here an effigy symbolising the US President George Bush and imperialism.

While the CITU’s State-vice president S K Ghosh put the effigy to fire, the district general secretary P N Verma stated the hanging of Saddam was a proof of America’s imperialistic dictatorship.

He said that by this act, America has been trying to show its power globally through muscle-flexing. Demanding the Indian government to register its protest against America’s capturing of Iraq and Saddam’s killing at international platform, Verma said it would strengthen the protest movement against America.

A large number of union members and citizens were present at Jinsi Chowraha during effigy-burning and demonstration.
