The city police have registered a case against nine persons for allegedly cheating a Gurgaon-based company to the tune of at least Rs 25 lakh.
The victim claimed that his company suffered a loss of Rs 1.25 crore. "We have suffered the loss due to a forged contract. Sumit Kumar, MD of PANSYS Technology Ltd of Bangalore, assured me to get a contract from a UK-based company to set up a BPO in Gurgaon. They even showed me some documents of the UK government and the company. Our representatives visited the UK twice, but none of the representative of that UK firm met them," said Deepak Kapoor, director of IORB Technologies.
"We informed the police seven months ago about it. After seven months of investigation, the police found my complaint genuine and filed a case against the accused," said Kapoor.
The police said the total loss could be around Rs 25 lakh. "It is too early to reach any conclusion. It will take time to figure out exact amount of loss," said Babu Lal, SHO of DLF Phase 2 police station.
