AFTER HAVING a ten-day grand celebration of Ganesh Utsav, the immersion of idols of Lord Ganesh took place today. The auspicious occasion of Anant Chaturdashi witnessed a large number of processions on the streets of Bhopal, with children and youths applying ‘Gulal’ and giving calls of ‘Ganpati Bappa Moriya’.

The idols were immersed at Prempura Ghat. Several small idols belonging to residents were also immersed in a few lakes in the City, like the one near Char Imli.

An interesting part of the immersion show at Prempura Ghat was that an environmental activist could be seen requesting people not throw plastic bags etc in the lake’s water.

He was found to be actively taking out thrown-away polythene bags and packets from the water with the help of a bamboo.
