City dominates State water sports

THE STATE-LEVEL kayaking and canoeing competition concluded at Lower Lake on Monday. Bhopal dominated the event. On the concluding day various competitions of 1000m were organised. In the 1000m K-1 category, Nardev Singh stood first. Gangaram Verma and Yasib Khan won the K-2 category while team of Mahesh Vishwarakarma, Tauseef, Vinod Yadav and Nanda won the K-4 category. Sunil Keer emerged winner in the C-1 category of the 100m.

In the closing ceremony, president of Madhya Pradesh Kayaking and Canoeing Association (MPKCA), D K Arya, secretary B S Kushwaha and Col B S Ahluwalia distributed prizes.

Later, the State team was announced. The team will participate in the national championship to be organised in the City from November 15.

According to the national coach Mayank Thakur, the State team is strong. “We are hoping more than 15 medals in the championship”, said Thakur. Coach Devendra Gupta and others were present, on the occasion.
