City gets two new DCPs after major police dept shake-up

In a major reshuffle, the Haryana government on Thursday transferred 17 IPS and two HPS officers. Earlier, on Wednesday, Surinder Pal and Praveen Mehta joined as the new DCP (west) and headquarter (HQ), respectively, in Gurgaon.

The former DCP (west) has been transferred to Faridabad, while the post of DCP (HQ) had been vacant.

ACP Surinder Bhadoria has taken over charge of Manesar and ACP Ashok Bakshi has been deputed at Udyog Vihar. Anil Rao will join as the new Joint Commissioner of Police of Gurgaon. Vikas Dhankhar will join as the new DCP (crime).

Earlier, DCP (east) Maheshwar Dayal had been given the additional responsibility of DCP (crime).

Surinder Pal, who has been moved from Panipat, told HT, "My focus will be on curbing crime with special emphasis on vehicle thefts and chain-snatching incidents in the city".

Praveen Mehta has taken charge from DCP Abhay Rao, who will now be deputed at Faridabad. DCP Dr Abhay Rao is posted to Faridabad Central.
